What’s my next film? Why am I making it? How can you help?

What led to this moment…

The first short film I wrote

Over the last decade, I’ve been part of more than 20 film projects.

I made my first film 10 years ago. It was a short film that I wrote, directed and starred in called Fighter. My second film was called Immobilized.

The second film I made

I learned the craft of filmmaking by working with filmmakers I look up to such as Kevin Sorbo (Hercules) and Brett Varvel (Disciples in the Moonlight). I have worked alongside Rob Lowe and Steve Carell. I didn’t go to film school but spent countless hours on film sets learning the craft in a hands-on approach.

The calling I know God has placed on my life is to undertake storytelling in the film world.

My next project

The Bus Ride

My new short film is about a man who has reached the pinnacle of his career. From within the walls of his tour bus a conglomeration of events flash past him at breakneck speeds. The faster he goes, the more he finds control of his life slipping away. By the time he understands what truly matters in life, they are left in his past as regrets.

This film causes us to reflect on this thought: Eventually your life will come to an end. What will you find when you get off  “the bus”?

I’ve been working on this story for the last three years with two other writers, and now it is time to bring it to life.

WE NEED YOUR HELP

We are raising $25,000 to shoot, edit and release this film, and we need your help.

The Team…

Reigh Casimir

Director

Reigh has been part of many movies and TV shows, including Homelander and Hawkeye, and now he is coming alongside me to direct this film. He was one of the first guys I pitched this story to and has helped craft it from the start.

Ethan Mitchell

Writer

Ethan is a writer and filmmaker from Alabama who I have known for years. I have always wanted to work with him, and when I was brainstorming The Bus Ride script, I called him up. After a few phone and video calls, he emailed me a full script. His script is the one we are shooting.

Micah Versemann

Producer

I have worked on 10 projects with this man and have a long history of growing as a creative with Micah over the years. More recently, he has focused on producing and has been a part of some incredible projects including Birthright Outlaw, under the banner of Sony Pictures. He also produced My Seven Grandmas and a number of other projects around the country.

While the team will continue to grow, these are the initial few who have been with me from the start.

Why this film?

I’m a dreamer, a champion of the impossible. As I run my race to fulfill the mission of my life, I want to use this film as a reminder to myself and this generation of dreamers to reflect on this question: What are you chasing, and what do you think will happen when you find it?

The vision…

You don’t make short films for the monetary ROI but for the impact that they will have on culture. I truly believe that with a story like this, we can pull a cultural lever in the mind of the viewer to do some self reflection. In a world that is hyper obsessed with influence, fame and wealth, this short film goes against the call of the world and takes a look at the legacy we are leaving behind.

I also want to use this film as a way to compliment speaking engagements in the future around dreams and goal setting. I was a youth pastor in my early twenties and have spoken at various events over the last decade. I believe this will be a great tool to take to more of those speaking engagements.

Keep up with the film project
